Take the family on a StoryWalk®!
Looking for a fun family activity? Family Literacy Week 2021 is January 24-31 and we are celebrating with a StoryWalk®!
Bundle the kids up and follow the pages of “Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type” through the windows of various businesses in downtown Smithers. The story starts at the Library where you can pick up the list of the route to follow to get to the next page.
The theme of Family Literacy Week 2021 is “Let’s Be Active!”. Active play is an essential part of children’s development so put your screens away and get active on a StoryWalk®! Please remember to maintain appropriate distancing from other groups.
Decoda Literacy Solutions will run a province-wide online Photo Contest, so take photos on the StoryWalk® and post them on social media with the hashtags #FLW2021 or #LetsBeActive and be entered to win a prize!
This community event is brought to you by Smithers Community Services Association and Smithers Public Library, and is generously supported by the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation, the Interior News, and Decoda Literacy Solutions. The StoryWalk© Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montepelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
