Take the Kids on a StoryWalk®!

Take a walk through the pages of a deconstructed children’s book and enjoy a wonderful story in the outdoors! StoryWalk® is set up along ‘Lois Lane’ through Heritage Park – start at the Kiddies’ Park entrance on Manitoba Street.

Books will change monthly – check in regularly for the next story!

Win your own copy of each month’s book!

To be entered into the prize draw, take a photo on your StoryWalk® and email it to literacy@scsa.ca (children’s faces should not be shown).

Free activity kits to do at home!

When you get to the end of the story, head over to Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) in the Northwest Child Development Centre at 1471 Columbia Drive (9am-4pm, Monday-Friday) and pick up a FREE activity kit for the kids to do at home! Activities will change for each book.

StoryWalk® is brought to you by the Literacy Outreach Program at Smithers Community Services Association and Childcare Resource & Referral at the Northwest Child Development Centre.

Thank you to the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation and Decoda Literacy Solutions for their funding, to the Town of Smithers for their support of the project and for allowing us to install it in Heritage Park, and to our lovely volunteers who are helping to make this happen!

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montepelier, VT, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
