Telkwa Museum

Helping Hands
Help seniors stay in their own homes safely this fall and winter by lending a helping hand. By helping with yard cleanup, shoveling walkways, and removing ice, you will help keep our community’s seniors safe and active. The program is currently in need of volunteers and is accepting registration from seniors or persons with disabilities who require assistance. Smithers Art Gallery
The Smithers Art Gallery is always looking for volunteers to open the Gallery doors to the public – volunteers usually work one or two 2-hr shifts a month, and the Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday 12pm-4pm. We are also looking for extra hands to help with Christmas in the Gallery, a month-long gift shop of local arts and crafts in December. Bulkley Valley Community Arts Council
The general purpose of the BVCAC is to create more public access to artistic and cultural experiences in the Bulkley Valley. We achieve this through public education and advocacy for artistic and cultural groups, funding groups and individuals looking to further the arts, and distributing information and services to the council’s members.
Volunteer Positions available:
• Board Members -We are looking for people who have an interest in the arts (even if you are not a practicing artist yourself), who will commit to monthly meetings, have access to email, and care about the arts in our community.
• Website administration and ongoing, frequent forwarding of emails to appropriate recipients.

Smithers Community Radio
Your new, not for profit, volunteer operated community radio station is looking for volunteers to add to our team. Do you want to be involved with something fun that is making a difference? ESL Volunteer Tutor
Gain experience and skills by becoming an ESL volunteer tutor! You receive free training and support for you to tutor an adult ESL learner on a one-to-one basis for 2 hours per week. All you need is the willingness to help someone speak English better. We build a welcoming and supportive community through shared multi-cultural experiences. Northern Root Community Garden
The Northern Root Community Garden is looking for a Treasurer. This position reports to the board of directors, and is responsible for managing the monthly expenses, deposits, and reports. Girl Guides of Canada

HI Hub/Canadian Cancer Society
The Health Information Hub (HI Hub) and Canadian Cancer Society are looking for volunteers to provide publicly available health information and help individuals find more information for their health situation such as transportation, support groups, etc. Shifts requiring volunteers are Tuesday and Wednesday, 11-1 pm at the Healthy Living Centre across from Salvation Army office. Conference on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
