You can also donate to Broadway Place through the Smithers Bottle Depot, just return your empties and tell them you would like to donate the deposit refund to Broadway Place!
SCSA works in partnership with BC Housing to provide emergency shelter services for the Smithers area.
Broadway Place Emergency Shelter provides supervision and ensures a safe, supportive environment for all clients in need of emergency shelter.
The Shelter can serve up to nine persons a night. Included are meals and a common room to interact with other people and service providers. Broadway Place also provides a drop in service that accomodates individuals to do laundry, shower, find out about other resources available, look for housing and connect with our Outreach Worker.
The Emergency Shelter beds are available to individuals and families in need of emergency shelter on a first come first serve basis. The time limit has been set to allow Broadway staff to connect with clients, facilitate access to support services and to help clients find alternative, safe and affordable housing.
In order to be eligible for shelter, guests must demonstrate an immediate need, and have no other possible alternatives for accommodation.
Broadway Place accommodates individuals and families and ask that women and children who are fleeing an abusive situation should contact Northern Society for Domestic Peace- Passage House prior to seeking accommodations at Broadway Place.
Broadway Place Facility
Is a minimal barrier shelter, sometimes referred to as a ‘damp shelter’ – however, the consumption of alcohol or drugs on or in the shelter is not allowed.
• 9 beds a night
• Safe and clean environment
• Staffed 24/7
• Rules and regulations are provided to clients upon arrival
• Breakfast, lunch open to everyone in need, dinners are provided only to cilents staying the night
• Bedding, towels, shampoo, and other personal hygienic products available to clients
• Support service and referrals to other agencies available
• Clients receive assistance with personal goals for housing, employment, health and well-being.
Broadway Place is client focused, respecting diversity of race, culture, religion and sexuality. We offer a supportive environment where clients are encouraged to follow rules and regulations, to address basic needs, develop independent living skills and reconnect to community resources.
