CORR Homes

Mission
The CORR homes program strives to provide placements for at-risk youth by providing a safe, secure and supportive home environment. Each CORR home family is committed to recognizing and devleoping each youth’s strengths and abilities in order to assist them to reach their maximum potential.

who are we?
The CORR Home program is a full-time support service for male and female young offenders between the ages of 12 and 18. Youth are placed by court order in private residences for a period of up to six months. If possible, the youth are placed in or near their home community to assist the reintegration process.

How do you access the service?
All youth must be court ordered to attend the program. A judge determines whether a community placement is appropriate and make a referral to the program upon a Youth Probation Officers request. All youth are then screened by the CORR Home Program Management and by their respective CORR Home parent to ensure that a good match is being made between the family’s skills and the youth’s needs.
Youth who are awaiting trial may be placed on an undertaking or bail order. Often when a youth has done well in the program on bail the judge may consider a placement on probation on expiry of the bail order. However, most bail placements are short term and last an average of 1-2 months.

Prospective CORR Home Parents
Anyone who believes they have something to offer a youth at risk may apply. A thorough screening process will be conducted which includes; A family interview, site inspection, Criminal Records search, reference checks and oath of confidentiality. Financial incentives for care-givers are provided at a rate higher than the Provincial Average for this type of service.
