English as a Second Language
The English as a Second Language (ESL) program offers free one-to-one tutoring to individuals who would like to improve their understanding and use of the English language.
We match volunteer tutors from the Smithers community with students. Tutors attend free training on how to teach English as a Second Language. We then match the tutor with an adult learner and they work together on the goals set out by the learner.
We currently have learners in our program from Peru, Vietnam, Japan, China and Cuba.
We are always looking for new Tutors and Learners. No previous experience is necessary. If you or anyone you know would like to be part of our program, please contact Miriam Colvin for more information. Miriam Colvin, Program Manager: 250-847-9515 or email: esl@ scsa.ca
