Open House on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 11:30am to 3:30pm at the Old Train Station located at 102-3815 Railway Avenue in Smithers.

We are thrilled to invite you to celebrate Smithers Community Services Association’s (SCSA) 50th Anniversary on October 26 through an Open House at our main offices located at 102-3815 Railway Avenue Smithers from 11:30 – 3:30 pm.

The community’s ongoing support has been instrumental in our growth and we want to give back through a year-round celebration filled with engagement, discussion, and information. We will also use this opportunity to learn from the community through engaging and sharing so that we can adapt to the community’s needs for the next 50 years.

The Open House will showcase our services, and an opportunity to explore our building and learn more about what we do. We will have wagon rides through B&T Wagon and Sleigh rides, a cake, cookies, hot beverages and a grand prize, so please bring the whole family. This is the first event in our year-long 50th-anniversary celebration. Our focus will be centered around the theme of “WE”. Which means we are all connected regardless of our background and differences. We respectfully acknowledge that we live, work and play on unceded Wet’suwet’en territory and appreciate the opportunity to serve our community now and for the next generation.

We would like to promote who we are as a non-profit organization, our programs, and who we are as individuals. Our campaign of “WE” will provide a space or place for gathering, engaging, sharing, and healing.

This will be a great opportunity for us to receive feedback on any experiences people may have had with our programs and services. We hope to connect with more people in our community.

If you would like to be part of these exciting opportunities by volunteering, sponsoring, or donating, we welcome your participation and engagement. Here are some ways you can support and be part of this project:

  • Volunteers: Join this special event. You can join on a one-time or ongoing basis.
  • Sponsorship: Support us through in-kind contributions. All contributions will be recognized in our marketing materials throughout the year.
  • Donation: Your donations will be recognized in our annual report/impact report and on our website (for those who consent to public announcements).
  • Participation through feedback: Share your innovative ideas about SCSA services and programs. This feedback will be vital for us to continue providing excellent services in the community moving forward.

This project is based on collaboration among staff. The 50th Anniversary Committee would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions as we move forward through this celebration.

During our open house we will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Christmas Hamper and Food Bank.
