Christmas Hampers

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the community, Smithers Community Services Association (SCSA) is proud to announce the continuation of our cherished Christmas Hamper Program — a longstanding tradition that brings warmth, generosity, and hope to families across Smithers and Telkwa.

Building on the success of last year’s changes, SCSA is pleased to continue offering a more inclusive and accessible model for the 2025 program. The grocery gift card system, introduced last year, will once again allow families to make their own food selections—empowering recipients with choice, dignity, and flexibility. This approach ensures that every household can celebrate the season in a way that best meets their unique needs.

Our team is also reaffirming our commitment to inclusivity by continuing to welcome applications from individuals without a fixed address. By removing barriers, we aim to make sure that everyone—regardless of housing status—has access to support during the holiday season.

Community Volunteers packing hampers

Last year, 99 of 264 hampers were sponsored by local donors, businesses, and service groups. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of kindness.

Looking ahead, SCSA remains dedicated to strengthening this program in the years to come, with the long-term goal of expanding it beyond the holiday season. Together, we can continue to build a compassionate community where everyone feels supported and included.

“We are so grateful for the continued generosity of our community. Each year, the Christmas Hamper Program reminds us what’s possible when we come together. Our focus remains on making all SCSA programs more inclusive, accessible, and community-driven.”
