Alpine Court is a 24 unit townhouse style family complex. The complex was built in 2000 to address some of the housing needs facing low to middle income families wishing to live and rent in Smithers. Of the twenty-four units, fourteen are subsidized based on family income and ten are rented at the current market rate.
This 24 unit project is a partnership between Bulkley Drive Housing Society and BC Housing.

Smithers Community Services Association In connection with BC Housing operates Broadway House. Broadway Place Emergency Shelter and the Bulkley Valley Brain Injury Association are operated from the main floor.
There are six apartments upstairs that are rented to the community at market rent.
Cottonwood Manor is a seniors housing facility located in Houston, offering 6 Assisted Living units and 16 Independent single bedroom units.
Cottonwood Manor Assisted Living is a partnership between SCSA, BC Housing, and the Northern Health Authority. Together we provide seniors with affordable housing, social and recreational activities, and hospitality services. Our intention is to enable people who require some assistance to remain living independently.
Cottonwood Manor Independent Living offers affordable housing for seniors 55 years and older and is a non-smoking property and pets are not permitted.

Goodacre Place is a 22 unit supported housing project offering long-term tenancies and short-term emergency stays for people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless.
Goodacre Place is developed in partnership with BC Housing, the Town of Smithers and Smithers Community Services Association.
Together we provide program participants with affordable housing, meals, case planning, social and recreation activities, and other training and workshops.
The units are bachelor style and designed for single occupancy, two are wheelchair accessible.
To be considered eligible for supportive housing an individual must be experiencing homelessness or be at risk of becoming homeless.

The Homelessness Prevention Program connects people who are experiencing homelessness, or at risk of becoming homeless due to crisis or transition, with housing.
The Housing Outreach Worker will engage clients “where they are at”, and:
• Conduct a needs assessment
• Assist with personal goals
• Refer to appropriate housing options
• Identify and refer to income assistance and other income supports
• Create connections with stable accommodation(s) and appropriate services
• Connect with and, where appropriate, accompany to support services and appointments
• Follow up with and provide ongoing tenancy support and skills training
As well as:
• Connect with community organizations and service agencies
• Build and maintain relationships with landlords providing housing to Clients
• Provide education and resources to landlords to support and maintain Client tenancies
The Housing Outreach Worker and client complete an intake form, conduct a needs assessment, and develop a case plan. This provides clear direction and defines the goals that will be worked on during their time together. This may include help with navigating the rental market, sourcing available housing, accessing appropriate services or working with a landlord to improve their relationship with the tenant.
The program welcomes self-referrals as well as referrals from other sources.

Independent Living BC (ILBC) is a partnership between Smithers Community Services Association, BC Housing, and Northern Health Authority. Together we provide seniors with disabilities with affordable housing, hospitality and personal care services, social and recreation activities. The partnership allows people who require some assistance but not 24-hour care, to remain living independently.
The role of Smithers Community Services is in the management of the building, and the provision of hospitality services which include social and recreation activities, meals, emergency response service, and housekeeping and laundry.
Northern Health Authority is responsible for the personal care aspect of the program, and BC Housing provides funding, monitoring of the society, and standards of care.
The Meadows has 14 single bedroom units that are all self contained and wheelchair accessible. Two units are specifically designated as handicapped and have modifications to accommodate someone in a wheelchair. The Meadows is a non-smoking building and pets are not permitted.
To be eligible to live at The Meadows an assessment needs to be completed by Northern Health to determine suitability. Anyone interested should contact their local health authority or call The Meadows for more information.

Smithers Community Services owns and operates eight rental houses, six are located on Second Avenue across from Northwest Community College and two are located elsewhere.
The one bedroom houses are approx. 650 sq. feet with laundry facilities - no smoking or pets are permitted.
